We finally got reservations at one of the state beaches along the coast, San Elijo State Beach in Leucadia. It was for a Sunday (because weekends are virtually impossible to reserve less than 6 months out), but we took Monday off so we could just relax.
Packed up Adventure Truck the night before, went to church in the morning, then came home, swapped cars, and off we went.
We are getting much faster and more organized with our setup now. We also go to try out the new table I made for the outside of the rooftop tent. It lets us open up the flap and move our pillows out of the tent so we can look up at the stars. Also, a place to put drinks or snacks while we are up there.
Bev and Quint came out to spend the day with us. They brought their Boogie Boards and went to play in the waves, but Pam and I just chilled on the beach.
Twyla and Enrique came out later to have dinner with us, then we played some cards and hung out by the fire.
It was super nice listening to the waves and feeling the ocean breeze. Up in the tent we were able look out over the fence and see the waves. In the morning we were lazy and just watched the surfers and dozed.
When we finally got up, we went for a long walk along the beach, then came back and made some coffee and breakfast.
Had to check out by noon, but we are getting better and faster at getting the camp packed back up.
Short mini-break, but nice and relaxing.
